Where is my data?

On your phone. Shred works with no account, and until you sign up nothing you log has been anywhere else. If you do sign up, the written parts of your log are mirrored to your own private area of our cloud provider so your devices agree with each other — but your progress photos are never uploaded, even then. The privacy policy sets all of this out in detail.

How do I delete everything?

In the app: Settings, then Reset Challenge, which erases the log on this device. If you have an account, Settings, then Account, then Delete Account removes the cloud copy and the sign-in record too. Deleting the app on its own removes only the on-device database, so delete the account first if you want all of it gone.

Why is my calorie target different from another app's?

Shred derives it from your resting burn, then your activity level, then the pace you chose — and it shows you each of those steps rather than handing you a figure. Tap the number on the fuel card to see the whole derivation. It also refuses to take you below a safe intake: if the pace you picked would require that, Shred tells you the rate it will actually run instead.

The scale went up. Am I doing something wrong?

Probably not. Day-to-day weight moves a pound or two on salt, sleep, and water alone, which is why the app plots a trend through your weigh-ins rather than joining the dots. Judge a week, not a morning.

A food came back with the wrong calories

Typed foods are looked up in USDA FoodData Central and Open Food Facts before anything is estimated, and where a database answers you will see the portion it assumed underneath the name. If the portion is not yours, pick a different reading or edit the numbers before saving — nothing is written to your log until you accept it. Chain-restaurant entries in public databases can lag a reformulation, so the packet in your hand beats the database.

Does Shred need Apple Health?

No. It is better with it — your calorie budget moves with what you actually burned — but every part of the app works without it. You can withdraw access at any time in the Health app under Sharing, then Apps.

Is Shred medical advice?

No. It is a tracking tool, not a clinician. It will not set a goal below a healthy weight for your height and it caps the rate of loss it will plan for, but if you are pregnant, managing a medical condition, or unsure whether a deficit is right for you, talk to a doctor or a dietitian first.
